On Friday, April 25, nearly 800 philanthropists gathered at Hermann Park for one of Houston’s favorite charitable events, Evening in the Park. Celebrating the Park’s centennial this year, the gala was one for the books with $728,735 raised for the gala along with a portion of the $656,750 raised in special centennial underwriting packages which included a gala table. These funds will help amplify the Conservancy’s efforts in conservation and beautification throughout Hermann Park.

Dressed in summer whites, guests began the evening with cocktails in Lindsey Plaza with the new Art in the Park installation Spider by Louise Bourgeois serving as a backdrop. As guests made their way to the tent dancers from Suchu Dance performed along the Jones Reflection Pool. The dancers were choreographed by Jennifer Wood.

After the birthday toast by board chair Ann Kennedy, guests were drawn from the tent onto Molly Ann Smith Plaza for a colorful performance by Suchu Dance, a fantastic light show by Nic Phillips, and a parade of butterflies from the Austin Bike Zoo made possible by the Miller Outdoor Theatre Advisory Board. A wonderful time was had by all!
