In celebration of Hermann Park’s centennial, Hermann Park Conservancy is hosting the first annual Hermann Park Kite Festival. Everyone is invited to this free festival as kites in all shapes and sizes set sail in the spring sky on Miller Hill and around the Jones Reflection Pool.

Food will be available for purchase from food trucks the Waffle Bus, Custom Confections, and Tila's Tacos Truckeria.

Die-hard kiters and recreational fans alike will enjoy the acrobatics of the South Houston Area Recreational Kiters. Known for their stunt flying skills, the S.H.A.R.K.s will lend their special brand of high-flying aerial ballet to the Hermann Park Kite Festival.

United Airlines Kite Flying Contest 
Bring your kite for the chance to win a medal in one of several kite-flying categories. Categories include: 
  • Smallest Kite
  • Largest Kite
  • Most Colorful Kite
  • Best Homemade Kite
  • Most Unique Kite
  • Highest Angle Kite

Houston Public Media Kids Zone
The whole family will enjoy crafts, kite-making, and fun in the Houston Public Media Kids Zone. Activities will be led by:

Please note: Parking is extremely limited. Attendees are strongly encouraged to ride their bike or take METRORail. The closest METRORail stop to the Park is Hermann Park/Rice U. View directions to Hermann Park and parking information on our Visit page.
